Empowering Single Moms, Inc. was born from a simple but urgent truth: too many single mothers work hard, navigate systems alone and still fall through the cracks. Dr. Crystal M. Edwards saw it firsthand — as an educator, as an advocate, and as a single mother herself. So she built the organization she wished had existed. Today, we provide the education, mentorship and resources that help single moms move from crisis to confidence — and build futures their children can stand on.

Dr. Crystal M. Edwards
EDUCATOR · ADVOCATE · LEADER
Dr. Crystal M. Edwards is an educator, advocate and the founder and president of Empowering Single Moms, Inc. Her path to founding the organization was personal. As a single mother who navigated gaps in support systems while building her career in education, Dr. Edwards understood firsthand what it means to need resources, guidance, and community simultaneously.
With more than a decade of service to families across Delaware and the Philadelphia metro area, she has built an organization rooted in dignity, practicality and long-term impact. Her approach is to meet mothers where they are, give them real tools and trust them to do the rest.
